The container gardens that you planted during spring and summer must be way past their prime by now. And with the holiday season fast approaching, it’s the right time to add a special touch and holiday cheer to your containers. Whether you prefer something more elaborate or ornate, the DNS Landscaping team has some effective ideas to spruce-up your yard spaces for the winter months:
Some Tips
- Add Container Gardens. Since San Antonio does not experience freezing cold temperatures during these months, you can easily create beautiful container gardens that would withstand the chilly weather. You can achieve superb container displays using cut twigs, sprigs of berries and branches. Include incense cedar, white pine, magnolia, and eucalyptus. Red winterberry, Dogwood and more can complete the charming, festive scene.
- Place Festive vessels. Look for containers in bright shades to add color to your winter outdoor arrangements. The colorful berries and twigs would look amazing with bright colored containers. The pop of color create a cheerful atmosphere in the outdoor areas of your property during the bleaker days that are common during wintertime.
- Include Oversized Ornaments. If you are unable to find as many branches as you need or feel that they aren’t your style, add large ornaments to containers. Spheres and bells in various styles and colors create stunning vignettes. If you don’t like the red theme for the holiday season, including these types of ornaments is an excellent way to create the colorful look you want.
- Add fruits To Window boxes and Container gardens. Tuck in edible fruit into your container gardens. Natural lotus pods apples and more are perfect for filling out these boxes. You can also balance out the look and charm by adding eucalyptus and pinecones as well as fir leaves.
- Winter looming flowers are in interesting touch. Creating a winter theme in your container gardens doesn’t have to be a difficult task. You can add boughs of cedar garlands; bright red cyclamens etc. and drape them along the edges of the containers. If you want something living in these designs, you can add ivy or white birch branches. Southern magnolia leaves, winterberry holly, false cypress greens, and pine boughs are some of the other things you can place. For a simple yet elegant look, include magnolia boughs and Himalayan birch branches- these containers will look great right through the winter and add a festive, contemporary look to the space.
- Architectural accessories. Metal trellises are an excellent way to give your containers more prominence and structure. Add some geometrical bases that act a framework for ornaments, dogwood sprays, juniper boughs, and spruce twigs.
